A record number of Iowans are hospitalized with coronavirus as 61 long-term care facilities report outbreaks and 18 counties report a high positivity rate.The Iowa Department of Public Health on Wednesday reported 1,180 new coronavirus cases and 11 additional deaths. As of 10 a.m. Wednesday, the state reported 101,812 total positive cases, 79,049 total recoveries and 1,492 total deaths since the pandemic began. As of 10 a.m. Tuesday, IDPH had reported 100,632 total positive cases and 1,481 total deaths.State data shows 873,190 Iowans have been tested for COVID-19. The state received 4,797 lab test results in the previous day, with 593 positive results. IDPH receives test data from previous days that add to the overall total. Iowa reports a 9.5% positivity rate over the last 14 days.There are now 18 counties reporting a positivity rate greater than 15% over the last 14 days. Public schools in Sioux, Harrison, Carroll, Taylor, Lyon, Fremont, Plymouth, Delaware, Emmet, Monroe, Crawford, Page, Guthrie, Decatur, Montgomery Osceola, O’Brien and Woodbury counties can apply for a waiver to provide 100% online learning.
